What UPF rating does the GoldenOur hat have?
The GoldenOur Sun Hat is rated UPF 50+, the highest rating a fabric can carry. An independent U.S. lab tested both colorways to AATCC TM183-2020e and ASTM D6603 in September 2026. What is the difference between UPF and SPF?
SPF measures how well sunscreen protects skin from UVB rays. UPF measures how much UV radiation, both UVA and UVB, a fabric blocks. A UPF 50+ hat gives you consistent protection built into the fabric itself, with no reapplying.

Do I still need sunscreen if I wear a UPF 50 hat?
Yes. The hat protects the skin it covers: your face, head, ears and neck when the brim is down. Keep applying sunscreen to any exposed skin, including your arms, chest and the back of your neck.

What is the brim width?
The front brim is 4.5" and the back brim is 5.13", wide enough to shade your face, ears and neck when worn down. The snap sides let you fold the brim into a cowboy hat shape. Snapping the sides shortens the brim over your ears, so wear it down when you're in full sun for hours.

What is the hat made of?
80% cotton, 20% linen, densely woven to UPF 50+. The protection is built into the weave, with no coating to wear away. It's lightweight and breathable for all-day outdoor wear.

Is the hat waterproof?
The hat is water-resistant but not fully waterproof. It's made for beach days, travel and outdoor wear. Leave it on the towel when you swim.

What sizes does the hat come in?
2 sizes: Small/Medium and Large/X-Large. Measure around your head just above your ears and match it to our Sun Hat Size Guide.

How do I care for my GoldenOur hat?
Spot clean only. Reshape the brim when damp and air dry. Do not machine wash, and never put it in the dryer.

Where do you ship?
We currently ship within the United States only.

How long does shipping take?
Orders are processed within 1 to 2 business days. Delivery takes 5 to 7 business days from the date of shipment.

What is your return policy?
We accept returns within 14 days of delivery. Items must be unworn, unused, with tags attached and in original packaging. Email hello@golden-our.com to start a return.

What is GoldenOur?

GoldenOur is inspired by the golden light of golden hour, the easy, unhurried part of the day when you want to be outside and stay there. GoldenOur is spelled as one word, capital G and capital O, and is a sun hat brand, not to be confused with the everyday phrase.
